Studies

The ACCIS database is a valuable source of information on cancer occurring in childhood and adolescence. The mechanism of release of these data is being sought. Any proposal for a study that necessitates a release of raw data should be submitted for evaluation by the ACCIS Scientific Committee.

Currently, the following studies are planned:

Detailed analysis of the incidence trends of cancer in children and adolescents in Europe

Based on the increase in the incidence of cancer in children and adolescents observed in the ACCIS study over the period 1991-2010 [31], it is planned to conduct further analyses of time trends by homogeneous subgroups of tumours, sex, and finer age groups across Europe.

Description of incidence and survival of germ cell tumours in children and adolescents in Europe

This group of tumours was not described in the special issue of the European Journal of Cancer [8], and the analysis of these tumours is therefore a priority.

Benchmark report on survivorship from cancer in childhood and adolescence in Europe

This study is supported by the PanCare Childhood and Adolescent Cancer Survivor Care and Follow-up Studies project (http://www.pancaresurfup.eu/), funded under the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Commission. The aim is to examine late mortality and incidence of second primary neoplasms in the population of long-term cancer survivors.
